Humboldt Shifting Gears 2010:
Workplace Campaign > Workshops
Numerous workshops were taught at selected pilot project locations on various bicycle and pedestrian themes, ranging from increasing activity levels to safely sharing the roadway with motorized vehicles.
Eureka Discovery Walks
Humboldt County Public Health Branch partnered with Eureka Discovery Walks, a local program specializing in interpretive and historical walking tours of Eureka, California. These discovery walks were promoted at project sites to encourage walking and appreciation of Eureka's unique architecture and history.
10,000 Steps: Pedometer Workshops
The US Centers for Disease Control recommend 30-60 minutes of moderate aerobic activity at least 5 days each week. This workshop demonstrates how to use a pedometer to gauge activity by counting steps taken during a given day.
